Moving in with Bae? Yay or Nay?

March 27, 2017

Its inevitable. Having a discussion with a partner about moving in together. But, is it the right decision? Is it the right time? What are his expectations and more importantly what are mine? These questions and many more are what plagues the mind when taking a relationship to the next step. Like all decisions, the first step assessing your own needs. Can moving in with your lover be a stressful or enjoyable experience? To be honest, it can be both, but with proper planning, open communications, a bible and cocktails it is possible to keep the stress down to a minimum.  Here are a few things to help your organize your thoughts before making the big decision.

Create A Pro’s and Con’s Lists
Yep! Another list. Before you say…”Here we go again!”, just bare with me for a second. The creation of a pros and cons list is very important. It doesn’t have to be shared with your partner unless you want to. This list is for you. It is going to help you organize your thoughts. List all the pros and the cons of sharing a household. Make sure to list your fears, concerns and expectations.

My Healthy Reflection: A Journey to a Curvy, Yet Healthier Me!

March 16, 2017

Harsh Reality:  One morning I was rushing to get ready for work (as usual).  I just finished applying my make-up and doing my hair.  I dashed past my large freestanding mirror in the bedroom and immediately stopped in my tracks.  I saw a little too much movement in the stomach and thigh area.  I thought it was my imagination and I took a few steps back and looked again.  I wasn’t my imagination.  It was my reflection.  My actual reflection.  I eyes were fixated on my midsection.  I was immediately saddened.  My midsection was round and I mean rotund!  How can this be me?  How did I allow this to happen?  Then I recalled the pizza I had for lunch and the birthday celebration that I attended at Olive Garden the day before and I had my answer.  I surveyed the remainder of my physique starting from my feet, legs, thighs, midsection, chest, arms and finally my face.  My eyes were misty and a look of remorse was plastered on my face.  I threw on my clothes, grabbed my laptop bag and my leftovers from Olive Garden and ran out the door to get to work.

Saturday Night Self Care: Avoiding Mental and Physical Breakdown

March 6, 2017

I cringed at the sight of the dirty dishes in the sink.

My stomach ached at the sight of the pile of laundry that needed to be sorted, treated and washed.

Grocery shopping had not been done.

The garbage was over flowing.

Floors were not swept or mopped.

Bed sheets had not been changed; hell the bed wasn’t even made!

Living-room hadn’t been cleaned and I think there were a pair of shoes under the coffee table too along with remnants of dinner from the night before.

And the list goes on and on and on…..

March Blogger Goals

March 1, 2017

March Blogging Goals

February is now gone and it was a GREAT month!  I celebrated my 30 something birthday and I had a blast.   Matter of fact I am still celebrating.  It was also a productive month for my blog.  My social media followers have grown especially on Instagram and Twitter.  Every single day I look forward to a notice from Hootsuite informing me of a new follower or mention!  I get so excited.

I am truly excited that my blog has grown, however it has not grown as much as I want it to.  To be honest, I am still flexing my writing muscles, so creating great content is a bit challenging.  Luckily, I have joined a great blogging network, which allows me to interact other bloggers, gain ideas on future posts, etc.  If you are a new blogger, I totally recommend joining a blogging network.

Blogger Relationships:

I have enjoyed interacting with other bloggers through my blogger network.  It is a great way to network which is important to building your email list.  I would like to meet and follow (5) new bloggers this month.

Read More Blogs:

READING other blogs is important.  Not just blogs in genre, but others as well.  My blog is mostly lifestyle and fashion based.  However, I read blogs about music, business, DIY and others that peak my interest.  :o)

Build Email List:

I should have started my email list a long time ago.  Creation of an email list is essential to blogger growth. I am thinking of creating a monthly newsletter, which would showcase additional content, fashion tips and tricks, networking events, etc.

Batch Content:

Balancing my full time job and my blog is a little challenging, but manageable with the use of applications and effective scheduling.  I have scheduled time during the weekend to write out my posts for the week including social media.

Take More Pictures:

I say this every single month.  I need to take more pictures.  I have been having a little anxiety about posting pictures of myself.  Sounds weird right?  Its the truth.  After consulting with other bloggers; I have learned that there are others who have the same problem.  I have partnered with a great photographer who also happens to be a fellow blogger.  Check out my Instagram and Snapchat for more selfies! :o)

Product Hauls and Videos:

I always admired haul videos! I don’t have the professional photo set up, but my iPhone is just going to have to do! lol

5 Ways to be Productive During A Snow Day…While Staying in Bed!

February 9, 2017

When the meteorologist mentioned major snow accumulations at the beginning of the week, I immediately went into planning mode.  I made sure that all my assignments were completed at the office.  I had no intention of checking emails or messages.  This snow day belonged to me!  As soon as the long hand was on 12 and the shorthand was on five I headed for the door.  The snow was not expected to start until after midnight, so I headed towards my local Target to stock up on groceries and snacks; then headed to my favorite liquor store to pick up a bottle of Moscato.  It’s very easy to make a snow day a lazy day and believe me I wanted to.  However, here are 5 Ways for You to remain productive during a Snow Day, while Still in Bed!

Organize Your Email Inbox

On any given day I would get up 50 emails (non-work related) and they would just sit there unread in my inbox.  This is the perfect day to read, delete and unsubscribe to emails.  Create email folders/ categories to keep things organized.  To prevent future email pile up, spend few minutes at the end of the day to empty your inbox.  Emails that require your attention should be flagged.

Time to Chat!

Girl, get on that phone! I literally mean, TALK ON THE PHONE.  Not Text!  Call a few friends or family members that you haven’t chatted with in awhile.  We often resort to texting as a main form of communication.  Chatting on the phone seems to be a lost art.  Yeah, I am guilty of this too.  Make plans with your friends to get together to go to the movies, dinner, drinks or my favorite brunch.

Make Plans for Valentine’s Day, Vacation, etc.

Valentine’s Day is close at hand and making plans to surprise your honey would be ideal.  Use part of this day to make arrangements for Valentine’s Day.  Perhaps trying out a new restaurant, or making a nice dinner at home.  Research the internet for gift ideas and place orders to have gifts shipped before the big day.  Now, since its snowing outside, it would be good to start vacation planning.   Imagining someplace warm, with white sandy beaches and endless cocktails, etc.  Get the hint?  Make a list of possible places, prices and ideal times to travel.

Catch up on your Reading

I absolutely love to read and I am not just talking about blogs.  I am talking about books…about history, art, romance, and cooking; just to name a few subjects.  I have been lacking when it comes to reading, so I decided that I would read at least one book per month about any subject.  I haven’t selected my book of the month yet, however, I did decide to do some research for future blog posts and what better way to get ideas than to read magazines.  My favorite magazines are Essence, Ebony, Oprah and Real Simple.  And, while you are at it check out a few new blogs and of course comment, share or subscribe.

BLOG!

Snow Days are excellent for playing catch up.   This is the best time to write and edit blog posts that are already published but to also write new ones for the following week.  Check out your editorial calendar (and you must have one!) create outlines for new posts, schedule social media postings and create images.  In addition to writing on your blog, it would be a good time to start a personal journal too.

Even though you are being productive, don’t forget to take some time to relax.  I would recommend relaxing after you have done a few things on your list.  Look out the window and watch the snow fall and allow your mind to wander.  Take a long bubble bath, watch a new show on Netflix and most importantly grab a good nap.

How do you spend your Snow Days?
