A Plus Size Life, Style, Fashion and Beauty Blog!

Trending Tuesday: Monif C 2017 Swimwear Collection

February 21, 2017

I am usually a “one note” swimwear shopper.  I purchase my swimsuits from one place and one place only.  Lane Bryant.  That’s it!  Every year right before the weather turns warm, I begin to hunt for a new swimsuit.  I am very particular about my selection as a modest (somewhat) plus size women.  Which means that certain parts must be remained covered and yet tastefully enhanced.  You get my point!  I’m very proud to say that this year…I will be stepping out of my comfort zone!  I have too.  What brand is responsible for this revelation?  MONIF C!  Now, if you don’t have any idea what I am talking about then you must be living under a ROCK!  Monif C 2017 Swimwear Collection…which is appropriately called Sea features the modest full bathing suits along with two pieces with bold prints and bright colors.   I am telling you this collection can make even the modest plus size woman (me) feel SEXY!  Without giving a second thought to whether or not by butt is hanging out.  Yeah, Me, Butt Cleavage….NO!

My Personal Fav’s

Can I just say that I am in awe?  Yes!  Completely!  Unequivocally in AWE!  I do have a confession to make.  I am an avid swimmer and I do it as often as possible.  Matter fact, it is my preferred exercise.  BUT, I never ever go swimming without a tee-shirt.  Yep! I’m Guilty.  However, I can’t cover up these swimsuits.  I just, CAN’T.   They must be seen, admired, RESPECTED!   And so they shall!    I love the Marina Rashguard Purple Snake Suit and the Marina Rashguard Geo Multi Suit!   I am not sure which one I will pick.  What do you think?  (Hmm….)

Price Point

Let’s discuss coins.  The purchase of these suits due require a couple of coins, 401K withdrawal, a few pints of blood. (Ok, that was overly dramatic!)  Whatever!  The point is I strongly believe that I will not regret the purchase of these suits or anything for that matter!  Neither would you!

Before, I press the order button, which one of these amazing bathing suits would you pick?  Tell me in the comments below.

Until Next time…..

3 Outfit Ideas for Valentine’s Day That Are Not RED!

February 13, 2017

Valentine’s Day is tomorrow!  Some of you are making plans to surprise that special person in your life.  Planning the perfect evening, the perfect setting, the perfect gift and of course the perfect outfit.  Every year on Valentine’s Day I see countless women with red outfits, red shoes, red accessories and even bright red hair!  Yeah, I am not a fan of the absolute “norm”.  I am sort of a rebel and I will be sporting other colors of the rainbow.  Here are 3 outfits ideas that you can wear that are sleek and sexy….AND NOT RED!

Check out this beauty from Eloquii.  This is the Studio off the Shoulder Flare Dress in the color Grape Royale.  Sexy, classic curve hugger with a trumpet sleeve.  Minimal accessories are needed with this outfit.  Button earrings and a bracelet is all that is required.  Sport a sexy updo to show your shoulders, add a stiletto heel and STRUT YOUR STUFF!  See if he can get through dinner without drooling!

This simple black dress is a sexy little number.  Simplicity is always sexy.   This Marlow Side Bow Crossover Dress in Black from Fashion to Figure can we worn anywhere from a Valentine’s Day dinner or even church.  Modest neckline and perfect knee length.   Jazz this number up with a chocker necklace, drop earrings and heels to die for!  Girl go get eeee’m!!  LOL

Now, girl look at this dress.  Look carefully at the extra hint of sexiness with the mesh details above the bust and down the dress from hip to knee.   One word…HOT!  Not much if anything is needed to accent this dress.   This is the Sayanne Color Block Bodycon Dress from Fashion to Figure!  Girl, if you wear this dress, he won’t even want to leave the house.  Which is not such a bad thing!

Let’s be real shall we?  These dresses are great!  But it is you that would make them amazing!  Happy Valentine’s Day!

5 Ways to be Productive During A Snow Day…While Staying in Bed!

February 9, 2017

When the meteorologist mentioned major snow accumulations at the beginning of the week, I immediately went into planning mode.  I made sure that all my assignments were completed at the office.  I had no intention of checking emails or messages.  This snow day belonged to me!  As soon as the long hand was on 12 and the shorthand was on five I headed for the door.  The snow was not expected to start until after midnight, so I headed towards my local Target to stock up on groceries and snacks; then headed to my favorite liquor store to pick up a bottle of Moscato.  It’s very easy to make a snow day a lazy day and believe me I wanted to.  However, here are 5 Ways for You to remain productive during a Snow Day, while Still in Bed!

Organize Your Email Inbox

On any given day I would get up 50 emails (non-work related) and they would just sit there unread in my inbox.  This is the perfect day to read, delete and unsubscribe to emails.  Create email folders/ categories to keep things organized.  To prevent future email pile up, spend few minutes at the end of the day to empty your inbox.  Emails that require your attention should be flagged.

Time to Chat!

Girl, get on that phone! I literally mean, TALK ON THE PHONE.  Not Text!  Call a few friends or family members that you haven’t chatted with in awhile.  We often resort to texting as a main form of communication.  Chatting on the phone seems to be a lost art.  Yeah, I am guilty of this too.  Make plans with your friends to get together to go to the movies, dinner, drinks or my favorite brunch.

Make Plans for Valentine’s Day, Vacation, etc.

Valentine’s Day is close at hand and making plans to surprise your honey would be ideal.  Use part of this day to make arrangements for Valentine’s Day.  Perhaps trying out a new restaurant, or making a nice dinner at home.  Research the internet for gift ideas and place orders to have gifts shipped before the big day.  Now, since its snowing outside, it would be good to start vacation planning.   Imagining someplace warm, with white sandy beaches and endless cocktails, etc.  Get the hint?  Make a list of possible places, prices and ideal times to travel.

Catch up on your Reading

I absolutely love to read and I am not just talking about blogs.  I am talking about books…about history, art, romance, and cooking; just to name a few subjects.  I have been lacking when it comes to reading, so I decided that I would read at least one book per month about any subject.  I haven’t selected my book of the month yet, however, I did decide to do some research for future blog posts and what better way to get ideas than to read magazines.  My favorite magazines are Essence, Ebony, Oprah and Real Simple.  And, while you are at it check out a few new blogs and of course comment, share or subscribe.

BLOG!

Snow Days are excellent for playing catch up.   This is the best time to write and edit blog posts that are already published but to also write new ones for the following week.  Check out your editorial calendar (and you must have one!) create outlines for new posts, schedule social media postings and create images.  In addition to writing on your blog, it would be a good time to start a personal journal too.

Even though you are being productive, don’t forget to take some time to relax.  I would recommend relaxing after you have done a few things on your list.  Look out the window and watch the snow fall and allow your mind to wander.  Take a long bubble bath, watch a new show on Netflix and most importantly grab a good nap.

How do you spend your Snow Days?

Monthly Blogging Goals for February

February 8, 2017

Happy February Curvy Cuties!  February is one of the most special months of the year. It is not only the month we celebrate Valentine’s Day and Black History Month, but it is also the month of my birth. (Hhhheeeeyyyy!)  Birthday preparations and plans will be discussed later.  Now, let’s get back to the subject at hand; Monthly Goals for this month.

Last month I decided to document my blogging goals as a way of holding myself accountable for the success or failure of Curvy Intuition.  I originally started Curvy Intuition as a creative outlet and I never would have thought that I would experience the enjoyment of sharing my life with all of you!  But, I do.  I really do!   This blog allows me to be ME!  Its liberating!

February Blogging Goals

  • Increase my social media followers by 100. This month I am going to engage with other bloggers and readers on social media.  Through participation in groups, twitter chats and the creation and development of my Tumblr and Pinterest pages I believe this is achievable.  In addition, I will develop my presence on Snapchat and Instastories.
  • Create About Me Page. To take Curvy Intuition to the next level; it was vital that I have a Blogger Audit completed.  I enlisted the assistance of Miami based company Candid Consulting to perform the audit.  I was delighted with the results and was able to obtain more insight of what my blog requires to be successful.  One thing that was insisted was the creation of an About Me Page.  Writing about oneself can be an overwhelming task.  However, I really want you all to get to know me and vice versa.
  • Take more Pictures! Here is a little secret about me.  I never really liked pictures.  Odd isn’t it?  This blog is about FASHION and lifestyle.  Which means, pictures are required and essential   I have battled with my weight for most of my life.  I became self-conscious and I avoided the camera every chance I got!  I am on a quest to love myself more, which includes my BODY. Through pictures you will be able to get a closer look of my style, my obsession with shoes, bag and of course comfortable clothes.
  • Blog Consistently: Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Blogging consistently goes back to Time Management for me.  Plan, Research and Execute!  Devotion of time to plan my content for the month, do the necessary research and finally to write and edit my posts in advance.
  • Engage More Often with Other Bloggers and Readers. Developing relationships with other bloggers and YOU is a major goal!  I participated in live tweeting last month which resulted in additional readers and followers.  I have never done live tweeting before, but I must admit it was fun and I met other bloggers as well.  Psssss…I live tweet Scandal every Thursday!

What are your goals for this month?
